Beginner Driving Course
Changes as of September 29th, 2009 to the curriculum. As of today’s date M.T.O. has approved the 20-10-10 amendment to the “Say Dez!” curriculum!
The M.T.O. approved BDE curriculum by “Say Dez!” consists of the following:
- 20 hours of class room training of ten (10) modules 2 1/2 hours each
- 10 hours of in-car training
- 10 hours of independent home study which requires the students to access various links on the internet.
The first link has all the other connecting links within it. The homestudy or “home link” consists of two (2) observation lessons prior to being in the car, then four (4) independent home research projects while the course is being taught. Added to this is the Auto$mart website of Natural Resources Canada. Its four (4) videos pose several questions. These questions must be answered and handed in with the rest of the homework. All the homework must be handed in before finishing the course and must be placed in the students’ files.

The package comes in ten (10) three-ring binders, one for each lesson, plus two for the in-class instructors’ use. Included in the package are videos that are available from various source, FREE, plus some from the internet.
There are two videos that you should have, and probably do have in your present library. They are the “Laws of Physics” and “Stopping Distances. If you do not have them, you should buy them from ntsa international. They will also sell you the text books, if you are not already using a version of it.
